This Privacy Policy explains how Barely Studios ("we", "us", "our") handles information in connection with your use of the Barely application ("the App"), available on iOS and Android. This policy is provided in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. Please read this policy carefully to understand our practices.

Barely does not collect, transmit, store or process any personal data on our servers or systems. The App operates entirely on your device and has no backend infrastructure and no user accounts.
The App stores a limited amount of data locally on your device only, using your device's built-in storage mechanisms. This consists solely of a record of whether the 'How to use Barely' introduction screen has been shown on first launch. No salary figures, spending amounts or simulation results are stored or retained between sessions.
This locally stored data never leaves your device, is not accessible to us at any time, and is permanently deleted when you uninstall the App.
When the share result feature is used, a temporary image file is created in the device cache directory for the purpose of sharing. This file is deleted immediately after the share sheet is dismissed and is never accessible to Barely Studios at any time.
When the save to camera roll feature is used, the App requests permission to access the device photo library in order to save the image. No photos or images from the device photo library are accessed, read or transmitted by the App at any time. This permission is used solely to save the generated result image.
We do not collect any of the following: personal identifiers such as your name, email address, date of birth or postal address; device identifiers, advertising identifiers or IP addresses; location data; usage data, session data or analytics; financial information; camera, microphone, contacts or any other device data; or any data entered into the App including salary figures, spending amounts or simulation results.
The App does not currently integrate any third party analytics tools, advertising networks, crash reporting services or tracking SDKs. No third party has access to any data arising from your use of the App.
Please note that Apple and Google collect their own aggregated analytics data in relation to App Store and Google Play downloads respectively, including territory and download data. This data is collected by Apple and Google under their own privacy policies and is not accessible to Barely Studios at an individual user level. Future versions of the App may include affiliate links to third party products and services including energy, broadband and insurance comparison services. If you choose to follow an affiliate link you will be directed to a third party website or application. Those third parties operate under their own privacy policies, over which we have no control and for which we accept no responsibility. This Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly before any affiliate links are introduced. We will clearly identify any affiliate links within the App.
The App's age rating is determined by the Apple App Store and Google Play Store rating questionnaires. The current age rating is displayed on the relevant store listing. If future versions of the App include affiliate links to external websites the age rating may be updated accordingly.
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation you have the following rights in relation to your personal data: the right to be informed about how your data is used; the right of access to any personal data held about you; the right to rectification of inaccurate personal data; the right to erasure of your personal data; the right to restrict processing of your personal data; the right to data portability; and the right to object to processing of your personal data.
As Barely Studios holds no personal data about you, the majority of these rights have no practical application in the context of the App. However if you believe we hold any personal data about you or wish to exercise any of the above rights please contact us at hello@barelyapp.co.uk and we will respond within 30 days.
We hold no personal data about you on any of our systems. Data stored locally on your device by the App is retained on your device until you choose to uninstall the App, at which point it is permanently removed.
We are committed to ensuring that the App is developed and maintained in accordance with good security practice. As the App does not currently transmit any data externally there is no risk of data interception or breach from our systems. If future versions of the App include affiliate links, users will be directed to third party websites whose security practices are governed by their own policies and are outside our control.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the App or applicable law. Any updates will be published at barelyapp.co.uk/privacypolicy — the permanent public URL for this policy as required by the Apple App Store and Google Play Store — and reflected in an updated version of the App. The date at the top of this policy will indicate when it was last revised. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
If you have a concern about how we handle your data you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's independent data protection authority.
